Data Science Institute Seed Funding Award

Last week, we learned that Prof Westervelt's application to the Columbia Data Science Institute Seed Funding opportunity was awarded! It is a $75K award from Columbia Data Science Institute for the project titled "Application of Gaussian Mixture Regression to Obtain Useful, Actionable Air Pollution Data from Consumer-Grade, Low-Cost Monitoring Devices". Collaborators include Prof. Fred Jiang of SEAS and DSI. The project team will develop and apply a novel algorithm to a fast-growing global network of low-cost air quality sensors, thereby empowering communities to better understand their air pollution exposure and ultimately take action.
